The following are the common forms of the traditional Latin Mass which parishioners and visitors will encounter at Holy Family. In addition to these, there is the Solemn Pontifical Mass, celebrated by a bishop.

Low Mass Quiet Mass (in German, Stille Messe), two lighted candles on the Altar, one Priest, no prayers are chanted. Hymns are sometimes sung or there may be no singing.

High Mass Sung Mass (in Latin, Missa Cantata), six lighted candles on the Altar, one Priest who chants various parts of the Mass, intoning the Gloria, Credo and chanting the Epistle, Gospel, Preface, & Pater Noster. An ordained Lector may chant the epistle. The proper prayers are sung by the schola (Introit, Gradual, Alleluia, Offertory, Communion) and the choir leads the people in the ordinary (Kyrie, Gloria, Creed, Sanctus, Agnus Dei).

Solemn High Mass Six lighted Candles on the Altar, one Priest assisted by Deacon and Subdeacon; Epistle sung by the Subdeacon and Gospel sung by the Deacon. The Subdeacon & Deacon have defined roles in this form of the Mass.
