A Study of the Book of Revelation: “Thy Kingdom Come”

This course on the Book of Revelation by Jeff Cavins, a Catholic apologist, will be presented with commentary from Fr. Erik Deprey, FSSP, at Holy Family Parish beginning on Saturday, April 6, and continuing every Saturday until June 22 (except for May 4).

In this 11-part DVD series (10 sessions plus an introduction), Jeff Cavins provides comprehensive teaching and commentary on the Book of Revelation written by St. John the Apostle (also known as the Book of Apocalypse). Each 50-minute presentation is designed to follow a lesson in the Revelation Study Set, which contains the essential questions and reading assignments for it. It is an intriguing look at one of the most talked-about books in Scripture. It demonstrates how the Kingdom established by Christ in His Church is intimately connected with the Kingdom of Heaven, especially through the celebration of the Mass. You will also learn what all the mysterious figures and images of Revelation represent, as well as how the Church interprets Scripture’s references to the Second Coming of Christ: what has already happened, and what is happening now in salvation history.

Sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (following the 9 a.m. Mass at Holy Family). The cost is $25 for materials. If you would like to attend the course, please sign up on the sheet in the foyer of the church. For more information, please email Fr. Deprey by clicking here.

Installation of new church floor

On Monday, April 8, work will begin on the installation of a new “marmoleum” floor for Holy Family Church. The carpet will be removed and pews set aside for the work. We will have to have Mass in the hall on Sunday, April 14. The whole project will take about seven days. Please keep it in your prayers.

Bake sale

Bake saleThere will be a “Spring Picnic” bake sale on Sunday, April 21, after the 10:30 a.m. Mass (not on April 14 as previously announced, due to the installation of new flooring in the church and the need to use the hall for Mass that weekend).

In preparation for this, we will be selling in advance books of vouchers that can be used to purchase baked goods during the sale. These books come in $5, $10, $15, and $20 lots. The value of each voucher is 50 cents. Keep them in your bag or wallet so you can pick something up at the sale even if you have forgotten your cash! These will be available every Sunday up to the day of the bake sale.

In addition, we need everyone to pitch in with lots of baked goods. We are looking for many different kinds of goods, ranging from the old favourites to the more specialized dairy/gluten-free as well as Paleo-friendly.
