Holy Family Theatre presents …

… the film St. Maria Goretti in the hall on Saturday, May 11, at 7 p.m. Admission is free!

The story of St. Maria Goretti takes place against the backdrop of  poor labourers struggling to survive in a swampy area with rampant malaria. Luigi and Assunta Goretti keep their faith despite the hardship, and instill in their children a deep love for God. Their daughter Maria is especially devout. But tragedy strikes more than once: sickness and death befall the Goretti family, and then their young neighbour Alessandro does the unthinkable … This film, made on location and filled with authentic detail, stars Martina Pinto as Maria, Flavio Insinna (St. John Bosco) as the brave local Passionist priest, Luisa Ranieri and Massimo Bonetti as Maria’s parents, and Claudia Koll as the Countess Mazzoleni. 105 minutes.

First Communion and Confirmation classes

… at 12:30 p.m. at the school on May 12; June 2 and 23.

Holy Land sale …

… on Sunday, May 26, after both Masses. In order to promote steady employment for the minority Christians in Bethlehem and Jerusalem, those families who carve the olive wood are seeking our support, which we can show by purchasing their crafts. The sale is our little way of assisting this community and supporting the last minority Christians struggling to make a living in the land of Christ. It is also a way of preserving a local cultural heritage which is in danger of being lost as more Christians feel pressured to leave their homeland for economic and political reasons. These items are ideal as objects of devotion or as gifts.

Homeschool concert/showcase

It’s time to get ready for the Homeschool End of Year Showcase at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, at Holy Family.

Please contact Vikki-Michèle Freckelton at 604-567-8286 to discuss set-up times and how much room you will need for your family’s displays. Your family can put in as much or as little as you want: a performance or just a showing of work completed throughout the year; sewing, science projects, cooking, art, music, English, or any other subject that has been worked on.

Every homeschooling family at Holy Family is welcome regardless of which school you are registered with.
