On Friday evening, June 7, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Fr. Anthony Uy, FSSP, celebrated a Solemn High Mass at Holy Family Church, his first in his home parish after his priestly ordination in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 1. Assisting him were Fr. Erik Deprey, FSSP (deacon) and Fr. Daniel Geddes, FSSP (subdeacon). The Most Reverend J. Michael Miller, CSB, Archbishop of Vancouver, gave the homily, in the course of which he announced that Fr. Uy will be staying on at Holy Family as the new assistant priest. Also attending in choir were Fr. William Ashley, Fr. Pablo Santa Maria, and Fr. Edwin Neufeld of the Archdiocese of Vancouver. The glorious music, consisting of both Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony, was sung by the Holy Family Schola and Choir under the direction of Mark Donnelly. A reception in the parish hall followed the Mass. Fr. Uy gave first blessings before and after the Mass.
