Modified Mass schedule this week

Fr. Geddes will be away until September 13. There will be no evening Masses on September 9, 11, and 13.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross

There will be a High Mass at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, for the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

This day also marks the sixth anniversary of the coming into effect of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Letter Summorum Pontificum, which restored the Traditional Latin Mass (the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite) to a place at the heart of the Church’s liturgical life.

Attention, parents! First Communion and Confirmation classes

Parents of children who will be receiving their First Communion or the sacrament of Confirmation next spring are asked to contact Fr. Geddes as soon as possible. First Communion classes start on Sunday, September 15, and Confirmation classes start on Sunday, September 22.

NEW: 40 Days for Life: 2013 Campaign

The campaign will take place from Wednesday, September 25, to Sunday, November 5, 2013. We encourage our parishioners to take part in two ways:

  • Offer to God forty days of prayer and sacrifice, seeking His blessing on an end to abortion in Canada.
  • As a specific witness, those who are willing and able will commit to an hour or more of silent prayer.

Our parish is responsible for Wednesday, October 16, beginning with prayer at Holy Family Church from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. From 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., the vigil will move to Women’s Hospital at the corner of Heather Street and West 29th Avenue, Vancouver. (These limited hours at the hospital are a new feature of this year’s campaign.) We will return to the church after 8 p.m. and end with Benediction at midnight.

Women’s recollection

There will be a women’s recollection on Saturday, November 23. Further details will be forthcoming.

Men’s recollection

There will be a men’s recollection on Saturday, November 30. Further details will be forthcoming.
