Christmas carolling

Join our families in carolling the neighbourhood of Holy Family on Monday, December 22, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Neighbours will be notified that we are doing this to collect non-perishable food items to support our parish families and the needy. Please meet at the church around 7 p.m.

Christmas schedule

The Masses for Thursday, December 25, are as follows:

  • 12 a.m., Midnight Mass
  • 8 a.m., Dawn Mass
  • 10:30 a.m., Day Mass

There will be socials after the Midnight Mass and the Day Mass.


Fr. Flood’s visit

Please welcome Fr. Eric Flood, FSSP, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter’s North American District Superior, who will be visiting Holy Family from December 26 to 30.


New Year schedule

On Wednesday, December 31, there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to midnight, followed by a social. The Adoration will be offered for our parish families, growth in grace, financial success, health, and good deaths for those who will pass away during the coming year. Please bring finger food to share. The Sunday schedule will be followed on January 1.


Christmas/New Year’s Square Dance

… on Saturday, January 3, 2015, in the parish hall, with live music from Chris Suen’s Old Time string band “Shout White Dragon.” Entrance is by donation. Doors open at 6:30 pm; dancing begins at 7 pm. This is for all ages. No experience necessary! A concession will also be available with drinks and light snacks.

Gaudete Sunday raffle winners

Congratulations to Vikki Freckelton, who won the grand prize, a framed print donated by Artimage Gallery, and to Adriana Fogale, who won the second-prize gift basket! The draw was held during the Gaudete Sunday festivities on December 14.

The raffle and silent auction raised a total of $3,260, which will go towards the support of Canadian seminarians at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, a program of the Vancouver Traditional Mass Society. Thanks to everyone who helped make this fundraiser a success!


New from the VTMS bookstore

The Vancouver Traditional Mass Society has four copies of the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary published by Baronius Press. The price is $30 each, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The VTMS has also ordered 10 copies of the Catholic Trivia Traditional Version game. It contains two decks, each with 250 cards. Our price is $25 each, on a first-come, first-served basis (six left!).

FSSP mission trip to Peru

The fourth annual St. Francis Xavier mission trip of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter will take place in summer 2015. Two age groups will be going to Piura, Peru: 16-21 years (July 28 to August 10) and 21+ (August 14-24). More information can be found at www.sfxmission.com.
