But the fruit of the Spirit is charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity, mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Galatians 5:22

The exercise of the virtue of modesty in the way we dress is an important way in which we convey our respect for God and for one another. This is especially true at Mass, where becoming dress promotes a fitting liturgical environment, which in turn facilitates the cultivation of our devotion and fervour toward our Lord. While making allowances for hot weather, please keep in mind that clothing which is too revealing is inappropriate in the presence of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, and can be distracting for others. Taking the Holy Family as our model, we should all try to contribute to maintaining a sacred and fitting atmosphere at the parish. At the same time, no-one should take it upon himself to police the church or to criticise another for the way he or she is dressed. It is always the responsibility of the priests. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

~ Fr. Deprey, FSSP

The ‘extraordinary form’ of the Roman Rite is celebrated according to the calendar in force when promulgated by Blessed John XXIII in 1962. This calendar has a different cycle of Sundays and Feast Days from the ordinary form of the Rite, just as the Eastern Catholic Churches and, to a lesser extent, individual sees and monastic orders have their distinctive calendars. The calendar of the traditional Mass and Divine Office contains seasons, feasts and commemorations that are not observed in the new calendar, or which might be observed on different dates.

Orders will be taken for attractive and helpful calendars in the parish hall after Mass.

The Sanctuary is the Holy of Holies of the New Covenant, traditionally separated from the rest of the church by a real or symbolic screen or by a permanent altar rail. It is where our Lord resides in the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle on the high altar. Please do not enter the Sanctuary unless you have the Pastor’s permission or are part of the ‘cleaning crew.’

Whenever you cross in front of the tabernacle, it is traditional to genuflect (kneel), or to bow if you are unable to kneel or are carrying something. If you do have reason and permission to enter the Sanctuary, you should genuflect towards the tabernacle when you enter or leave the Sanctuary. Such actions help us to remain always aware of the presence of Christ, of the sacredness of the Sanctuary, and of our proper disposition.

At the traditional Mass, communion is received on the tongue while kneeling at the altar rail. Communion is never received in the hand at this form of the Mass. If you are unable to kneel, you may stand at the altar rail; if you are in a wheelchair, please come forward if you are able, or try to notify one of the priests or servers before Mass starts, so that arrangements can be made for communion to be brought to you. When receiving, yout hands should be kept down and away from your chin so that the paten can be placed beneath it. Your head should be tilted back slightly and the mouth opened with the tongue extended a little. Do not say ‘Amen’ when the priest pronounces the words ‘Corpus Domini nostri Jesu Christi custodiat animam tuam in vitam æternam. Amen’. Keep still. The Priest will place the Sacred Host directly on the tongue. After a brief moment you may rise and return to the pew.

If you have not received the Blessed Sacrament on the tongue before, do not be nervous: the priest has administered communion in this way thousands of times. Receiving on the tongue is a powerful sign that it is Christ who comes to us in communion, not we who ‘go to get Him’. It also ensures that only the ritually cleansed hands of the priest and the sacred vessels come in contact with the consecrated Host before we receive Christ in communion.
