On Sunday 12 September, Barbara Spencer, president of the non-profit organization Care for Kids La Paz, will give a talk in the church hall after the 10:30 am High Mass. Care for Kids La Paz is dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in La Paz, Mexico. The presentation will focus on how the charity got started and on the work it is doing—serving breakfast to almost 100 children and giving scholarships to dedicated students with good grades—in a small, impoverished community on the outskirts of La Paz.

Longtime parishioners may remember Barbara, who spoke to the Latin Mass community on several occasions at Holy Spirit Church in New Westminster during our time as Divine Mercy Parish.

The feast of the Holy Family, our patronal feast, falls on Sunday 10 January. The schedule of services will follow the regular Sunday schedule, and there will be a potluck celebration after the 10:30 am High Mass.

The parish will be providing ham for the potluck, so we ask those who will be attending to sign up on the sheet found in the foyer of the church, or contact the church office. Please provide your name, phone number, and the number of people coming with you so that we can provide enough ham for all. We ask that you bring enough other food to share, so there will be sufficient food for all.

Guest Speaker
Mr Pierre Lemieux, Conservative MP for the riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell (Ottawa), will give a talk at our Feast Day Potluck. He is a member of Saint Clement Parish in Ottawa (FSSP), and the only Member of Parliament who regularly attends the Traditional Latin Mass. He will speak about how his Catholic faith led him and his family into politics, and the opportunities that have arisen to defend and promote life, marriage, and family as an MP. The 30-minute talk will take place just after the meal, before or during dessert and coffee. We think you will find his presentation quite interesting. He will make himself available for questions afterwards.

Guest speaker Father Isaac Mary Relyea, a Franciscan priest, will lead the parish mission, preaching at all Masses on Sunday 29 November, and then delivering talks following morning and evening Mass, Monday–Thursday. Prior to becoming a priest, Father Isaac was a ‘wayward son’, living in contradiction to Christ’s teaching. Due to his Mother’s prayer and the call from God to become a priest, he came back to the Church. He is currently assigned to the Diocese of Kansas City, Kansas, assisting the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. Father Isaac is well known for his Traditional Catholic Missions. Very tough talks, from his very real experience!

Mission Schedule
Mornings: 7:30 am Mass, 8:30 am Talk
Evenings: 6:30 pm Mass, 7:30 pm Talk

Topics
Tuesday 1 December: Judgement
He was ordained a Priest in June of 1977 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre for the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX). From 1979-1986 he was Rector of the SSPX seminary in Zaitzkofen, Germany. In 1982, Father Bisig was elected a member of the General Council of the SSPX as an advisor to Archbishop Lefebvre, but he left in 1988 when Archbishop Lefebvre consecrated four bishops against the will of the Holy Father. Father Bisig then went to the Vatican and met with Cardinal Ratzinger. That same year, he became a founder of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP), established by Pope John Paul II, and served two terms as its Superior General from 1988 to 2000. In this capacity, he was appointed as an auditor to the European Synod in Oct 1999 by Pope John Paul II. Father Bisig studied dogmatic theology in Rome from 2001 to 2004 which concluded with a Licenciate in Theology (STL). He is currently Rector of Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska, where he also teaches dogmatic theology. Currently three parishioners from Holy Family are studying for the Priesthood there. As a founder and Superior General of the FSSP, Father Bisig has made many trips to Rome and has met with the late Pope John Paul II and the current Pope, Benedict XVI, on a number of occasions. Father Bisig has a story you don’t want to miss! A question and answer session will follow his talk.
