Holy Family Choirs
Home l Choirs
The choirs of Holy Family Parish strive to serve Almighty God by singing the Sacred Liturgy of the Church with due reverence, beauty and devotion, while growing together in both faith and musicianship, and supporting each other in charity, love and prayer.
The Principal Choir
The Principal Choir, Chorus Faustinae (under the patronage of Saint Maria Faustyna Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament), serves the principal Sung Masses of Holy Family—Sundays at 12:00 Noon & Festal Masses during the week—and is open to parishioners aged 14 and up.
The music program is founded on the richness of the Church’s tradition of Gregorian chant, with Mass Propers chanted in full at all the principal Masses by the men’s and women’s scholae cantorum, Schola Davidica (under the patronage of Holy Prophet and King David), and Schola Annensis (under the patronage of Saint Anne, Mother of Our Lady). Sacred polyphony of the Renaissance, as well as choral music of other eras, are also an important focus: motets and Mass settings by composers such as Palestrina, Victoria, Byrd, Lassus and Josquin make up a large portion of the choral repertory, with occasional works by Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern composers.
The Principal Choir also leads the congregational singing of beloved Catholic hymns in the vernacular, using both traditional versions and newly-composed arrangements by our Director of Music.
Regular rehearsals are held once a week, and additionally before every sung Mass. The intake of new members normally occurs twice a year in January and September; special cases at other times will be considered individually.

The Children's Choir
The Children’s Choir is open to all who have received their first Holy Communion, from ages 7-16 years old, and sings the Mass Ordinary and devotional chants at Sunday Mass at 9:00 A.M. Beginners are welcome, and no prior choral experience is necessary to join. All music is sung in Latin, so members should be open to learning basic pronunciation and diction, as well as participating in basic choral training.
Weekly rehearsals are Sundays at 8:25 A.M. before Mass, and we also have an occasional Saturday rehearsal to prepare new music for each liturgical season.
